Specialty Treatments

You’ll benefit from intensive nursing care and specialty equipment and treatments at UNC Health Wayne to help your body function and heal, such as:

  • Hemodialysis at your bedside by certified hemodialysis (HD) nurses to take the place your kidney functions
  • Mechanical ventilation to supply oxygen to your lungs and help you breathe
  • Thermagard® therapeutic hypothermia after cardiac arrest to help your body reach and maintain a targeted temperature to give you a better outcome during recovery
  • Glideslope laryngoscopy allows for awake intubations and faster more efficient intubations in difficult or restricted airways for emergency situations

Pastoral Care Support

When you or your family needs support from a chaplain, ask your ICU nurse or a volunteer to contact Pastoral Care at 919-731-6321. A chaplain is available 24 hours a day. For urgent matters on nights, weekends or holidays, please call the hospital operator at 919-736-1110 and ask to page Pastoral Care.
