Early Detection: The key to successful treatment of breast cancer.
Breast cancer is diagnosed more than any other type of cancer. In fact, 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. While very common, if caught early, the cancer is very treatable. Women at average risk should start talking to their doctors about breast cancer screening at age 40, likely with a mammogram. Women who have a higher risk of breast cancer, for example because of family history, should begin mammograms earlier, probably in their 30s. Conversation with your doctor is key and early detection offers the best chance of remission.
