UNC Health Wayne Awarded ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from Leapfrog Group

UNC Health Wayne received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for the 3^rdconsecutive reporting period. This national distinction celebrates UNC Health Wayne’s achievements in protecting hospital patients from preventable harm and errors.

“We are so proud to have been awarded another “A” from the Leapfrog Group” says Jessie L. Tucker III, UNC Health Wayne President & CEO, “having our commitment to safety consecutively validated by a national organization is a great honor. It summarizes the dedication that our coordinated team of employees, providers, and physicians has to Wayne County. Only 28% of the nearly 3,000 graded general hospitals received an "A."

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization with a 10-year history of assigning letter grades to general hospitals throughout the United States, based on a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Hospital Safety Grade results are based on more than 30 national performance measures and are updated each fall and spring.
