Doug Harrison Named Vice President of Human Resources

Following an extensive search for UNC Health Wayne’s Vice President of Human Resources, we are pleased to announce that Doug Harrison, acting interim VP of HR, will be permanently transitioning into the role effective December 19^th.

While providing interim support to our organization, Doug’s primary role has been as the System Director of Talent at UNC Health. Within this role, Doug developed and lead strategic initiatives focused on recruitment and retention, with a focus in nursing. With over 29 years of proven success in Human Resources, Doug has devoted his career to engaging Teammates and cultivating a culture of inclusivity and excellence. Serving in leadership roles in Wilson Medical Center, Wake Med, Johnston Health, and Vidant Health, Doug has a unique understanding North Carolina’s workforce in a healthcare setting.

Doug earned a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University and a Bachelors of Arts in Human Resource Administration. Additionally, Doug holds a Senior Certified Professional HR certification from the Society of Human Resource Management and the Human Resource Certification Institute.

During his time as interim, Doug has identified a number of opportunities to better engage our Teammates and enhance our organizational culture in a way that would positively impact the recruitment and retention of top talent. In his new role, Doug will oversee human resource strategic planning to include: recruitment, leadership development, Teammate engagement, and compensation and benefits.
